I started playing guitar in the late 1950's. I'm 6 months older than Hank Marvin of the Shadows, the difference in his stage name and my real name is a single letter. He was in the right place at the right time - I wasn't.
I didn't play for many years for a variety of reasons, and when I started playing again, I looked for Backing Tracks that I could buy. I found that a lot of people offered Backing Tracks but no music score or tab. This is very frustrating, so I thought about making my own. One day, I met Mathieu and he got me started on making my own Backing Tracks. Together, we set up this site which can now boast of over 600 Backing Tracks for a variety on musical genres.
I decided that it was silly to try to sound exactly like Hank Marvin. Everyone should develop his own sound(s) and style. Plagiarism is not the way to play guitar. You should ENJOY playing and try to make it sound better than the original. Just to give some idea as to what the actual song might sound like. I've made demos of the backing trax. These demos are NOT trying to show off how well I can play, but just to give some idea of the melody. I'm sure that many player's with different styles can play these songs a lot better than I can.
Both Mathieu and I try to add one or two new songs every month to our YouTube Channel - Trax-n-tabs YouTube Channel.
For a complete listing of all the songs that I've done please go to my demo site and go through the song list. You can sort it by name, Volume or Artist - by artist, it's the artist that I first heard this song from. Quite a lot have been done by many different artists.
If you have any suggestions for Backing tracks, feel free to contact me. No promises, but nothing will be ignored.
